Take your time.

We are creatures of habits. We like to do things in certain ways, or behave in certain acceptable manners. Our habits become part of our routine, and help us get through the day. Good or bad, our habits define us.

We may not be willing to admit it, but we have one habit or two that we would like to break from. Smoking, gossiping, drinking alcohol, gambling, or spending too much time on the Internet – these are but few of the habits that have negative impact on our lives. Breaking bad habits need not be that complicated, or hard. All we need is to take small incremental steps to make those small changes in our lives. Even the tiniest changes in our habits can vastly improve our quality of lives.

Use Triggers

Evaluate and understand the trigger that makes you do that habit, such as you smoke when you’re stressed, and replace it with a new trigger. So, instead of lighting a cigarette when you’re stressed, you can snap your fingers to remind yourself that you’re quitting smoking. Or instead of smoking, you can create the habit of taking a short walk when you feel stressed.
