To get the most out of this, start your reading with Part 1
Congratulations! You have made it through the first 90 days!
You may have experienced that throughout these 3 months at some point in time, you may have unintentionally replaced “the next 90 days” with “the rest of my life”. It happened to me and it was rather funny when I heard myself say this. It was a testament that I had changed my paradigm and it demonstrated the power that lies in this process.
I do not recommend to change it permanently however. Keep the “90 days”. This makes it easier to change your affirmations once in awhile… and in fact, even on day 89, you have already committed yourself to continue on for another 90 days anyway. The end sentence is a great trick and it works wonders!
I also noticed that it was quite easy to remember my huge list of affirmations but I felt something was missing when I was just “reading” them so I started to experiment and tried to find ways to make them become more powerful. Here is what I discovered:
- Just reading them did not always give me the desired effect and having used the excuse to have “little or no time at this moment in time to develop myself” I was piling on a lot of stress and discomfort. Not yet knowing the little gem I talked about in my previous post, I often felt sick (literally) when I started to read my list… I knew what was happening. My body was reacting. I was not in a good vibration as I did not believe myself and just merely reading them did do nothing to enforce my positive thoughts without taking time to study. Then I remembered that the most important aspect is “feeling” so I imagined standing in front of a room and convincing the audience of my goals, my affirmations. I did not just read them in my head but actually vocalized the words and I said them with a convincing voice. I immediately noticed that my body felt much better and in harmony with what I wanted to accomplish.
- Find your spot! A great place for me to do my affirmations was in the shower. It was more easy for me to focus, and I felt like the sound and the flow of the water took away any stress and negativity. When I was speaking out my affirmations in the shower, I noticed that I instinctively closed my eyes and looked slightly upwards. I immediately felt good. I have also noticed that when I looked downwards, it felt less powerful and more difficult to remember even small parts of my list! For this reason alone, I stopped doing my affirmations when sitting in bed, reading them from the paper in front of me. ‘Read’ your affirmations aloud as if you are standing in front of a group of relatives or close friends that you trust and close your eyes… This gives you the screen to visualize all the new thoughts that you put in place. Look up slightly. If you often engage in public speaking you will do this instinctively as it will make you feel more confident.
- As I mentioned earlier, I quit “reading” them but I started “memorizing” them. They were never exactly the same but I do not see that as a problem, rather as an advantage. It meant that I was actually “thinking” and “working” on them. This is part of the creative process. Those small and often subtle changes were often improvements. I did not see the need to change them on the paper though at that point in time as I wanted to keep my printed list the way it was when I started. The daily act of trying (and being able) to remember this huge list served as proof that I was making them my new habits. Just before I read the closing sentences I glanced at my printed list to make sure there was nothing I had forgotten. Sometimes there were a few lines, so I made notes as I knew those were some areas I needed to put some extra effort in.
- I internalized my list in the morning and in the evening and watched the video over lunch. At 28 minutes it is just perfect for that. If you can, copy it to your iPod, iPhone or any other player/phone that you carry with you so you can watch it whenever you have some spare time. After a few weeks I did not “watch” it all the time anymore. Just hearing it brought up the visuals in the video just as well and I could almost remember the entirely 3 and a half hours of video. However, I do recommend to “watch” it as much as you can. At least once every 2 weeks was enough for me. If you rather listen, then make sure to copy some of the visuals on a piece of paper and put it on your wall at home and in your office.
- After the initial 90 days I decided to make some changes to my list. The first change was to the closing sentence.“My signature represents my irrevocable commitment,
to watch or listen to this program,
to read or remember and internalize these positive statements,
and to make a paradigm shift at least once a day,
for the next 90 days”.I recommend that you make it your own but this is what worked for me and what I am using in the 2nd 90 days of Paradigm Shift. Change it accordingly but be sure to keep the 90 days intact as well as the basic parts of the original program - Read my next post on how to optimize the affirmations themselves and prepare for more good fortune in the 2nd 90 days of making positive changes in your life.
You can truly be anything or anybody you want. Make some great improvements!
