To get the most out of this, start your reading with Part 1
I have been there myself. I have set some pretty big goals for myself and just as mentioned in the Paradigm Shift program, you will indeed feel like crashing into a wall of bricks when you try to change your habits, especially if you feel ‘short on time’ to gather the knowledge. Here are a few things I have learned:
- It is important that you set aside at least 30-60 minutes each day to develop yourself. This may sound much more difficult than it actually is. All it takes is some planning, really! If 60 minutes seems too much of time, start with 15 minutes and work your way up to 30 minutes a day.
- How important is changing your life to you? You are spending your days the way you do at the moment, so if you want to enjoy a better life, make it your priority. Make it something to look forward to every day… In other words: Start your day with developing yourself. Your mind will be most clear in the morning, you will feel full of energy seeing the sun come up and nature awaken around you and you will benefit with great ideas popping up throughout the day from just doing this mental exercise.
- How to develop ‘yourself’? You can read a book, listen to an audiobook, watch or attend a seminar, … Even better though: you can take a look at your list of goals on things you want to improve, pick one and start to work on it. Just put it on a piece of paper and for the next 15 minutes, write down anything that comes to mind. No matter how silly or ingenious. Let creativity flow through you. You can review your answers later on. Depending on how important this goal is to you, you may want to elaborate on it the next day and add some notes on your previous ideas. Keep the good ones and work on those. This is how you make a change; one step at a time but with a focused mind.
- If your excuse is… “I don’t have time to develop myself right now, I hardly have time to sleep!”, you can still make a start. Keep in mind though, you will set off stress in your body as you can only overcome problems (ignorance) by study (knowledge). It happened to me, until one my teachers offered me this little gem: …When you write “I am so happy and grateful now that…” it works great if you have ample time to dedicate to study/self-development each day. If you are short on time (“You have to make a living after all!”), you might want to ‘soften’ the starting sentence a bit so that it is always valid and your body more easily accepts it (does not experience it as a lie). You can replace it with: “I am in the process of creating my life exactly the way I want so that I am always happy and grateful that…”.Since you are working on your list, since you are thinking, imagining and creating… you are setting all of the forces in motion that create your perfect life. All of the sentences that follow are part of this process, they are all in the process of coming ever more true every day.
Be everything you want to be… and above all, be happy!
