To get the most out of this, start your reading with Part 1
I think my list has been great! But, it is also been very long; as in 3-4 pages long! As it is important to focus and to make your affirmations as effective as possible, I felt it was time to reorganize my list. Here is how I went about it:
I already touched upon it briefly before: use groups effectively. Here are the groups and their order as I am using them in my latest list. Depending on if your focus is work, possessions or family, you will have to reorganize them so that your most challenging goals are at the end. The list below is simply a guideline as for me it provided me with some great affirmations to bridge the different groups.
- character (confidence, discipline, …)
- skills (languages, study …)
- relaxation and health (relax, rest, food, …)
- lifestyle (nature, travel, …)
- social and relationships (friends, family, …)
- knowledge (work, opportunities, …)
- possessions (money, property, …)
- conclusions (time and money freedom, “I am worth it!”)
- I have typed out the affirmations on my PC and put a header on top of each group. I printed it out, took a red pen and started to remove all of the redundant words and started making my affirmations more powerful.
- In front of each sentence, I have written one word that summarizes the sentence. This way it is easy for me to see if the sentence really belongs in this group; if it is clear enough and whether I may have multiple sentences that in fact mean the same thing. It is useless to repeat the same idea over and over if you already have a long list. First put them together in the right category, in an order that makes sense. Try to combine them and when you have run out of options, simply remove the least powerful sentence(s) of the ones that signify the same goal.
- When you are satisfied with your sentences and you have the words in front of them (It took me about 6-7 prints), just look at the single words and see if the order makes sense to you. If not, make further adjustments.
- See if you can remember the complete sentence by looking at the single word. IMPORTANT: You have possibly changed your sentences quite a bit… so the first two weeks, don’t try to remember them straight away or you will come up with your old non-optimized affirmations. Read them as out aloud as if you are making or rehearsing a speech until you remember all sentences correctly.
- If you know about mind mapping, you may want to use it to make sure that you remember all of your affirmations easily. In the middle of the page, write “I am truly grateful for my life” and clockwise, make branches to the main groups. From each group, make branches to your single words that signify the sentences. It will be good to keep these single words in front of your affirmations sentences and put them in another color. Use the same color in the mind map. Next to each word on your mind map, draw an image that symbolizes the word or sentence.
- Keep a copy with you at all times and look at your mindmap when you have some spare time – whenever you are in traffic or waiting for an appointment. THIS IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR DOING YOUR AFFIRMATIONS. This is only an added aid to keep you focussed throughout the day. By just glancing at it during the day, your subconscious is reminded of all of the sentences and the ones that are most important to what you are doing at that moment.
- Print out another copy and put your mindmap on your home/office wall or vision board without having to worry about nosy colleagues’ remarks
.
You are now ready to start on your next 90 days and REALLY make some profound changes in your life. Good fortune!
