In one of my earlier posts you may have read that I set myself up for a lot of stress when reading aloud my daily affirmations. One reason was that I did ‘not have enough time’ to gather knowledge on how I would make my dreams come true. The other reason was that my affirmations I had not optimized my affirmations for this temporary but harmful situation.
For about two weeks I started to have a lot of stress each morning when I got up out of bed and read my list. My body did not believe it. If also felt like a chore, so I knew I had to make some changes. Here’s what I did:
- I gave myself a little bit more time before starting my affirmations. I simply decided to close my eyes and relax first. I took three deep breaths (sometimes more) until I felt completely calm.
- When I really needed a confidence boost, I thought of one of my victories of the past. (Everyone has their great moments. If you can’t think of anything right now, put it on your to-do list. This weekend take 30-60 minutes to think of all of the great things that happened in your life and then narrow your list down to few words or a few sentences per victory. You can keep this sheet handy or hang this up in a frame at a place where you do your affirmations. This way your victories are always within reach when you need them.)
- I changed the opening sentence to include “I am in the process of….” (see my earlier post). This made my affirmations true instantly. This is however NO EXCUSE TO NOT EXPAND YOUR KNOWLEDGE.
- So, … Expand your knowledge. Make a plan and decide when and what you will study (or the people you will meet that can mentor/help you) to make sure you stay focused on achieving your goals.
Have an inspirational weekend and share it with the people around you,
Chris
